What is collected on this site, by whom, and how to turn it off.

This policy covers hplushousing.com and explains what happens to information about you when you visit. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past, so it is short.

Advertising and cookies
This site uses Google AdSense to serve advertisements. The following disclosures are required of publishers who do so, and they apply here:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site. You can opt out of personalized advertising from many of them at optout.aboutads.info, at optout.networkadvertising.org, or, for visitors in Europe, at youronlinechoices.com. A current list of the vendors that may serve ads here is available through the consent dialog described below.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent dialog from a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized advertising cookies are set. Declining limits advertising to non-personalized ads; the site continues to work. You can reopen that dialog at any time from the link in the site footer of the consent banner.
Residents of US states with comprehensive privacy statutes may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. This site honors the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser sends one, and you may also write to the address above.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which articles are read. Analytics cookies record things like the pages you open, roughly where you are (city or region level, from your IP address), and what kind of device and browser you use. IP addresses are anonymized. This data is used in aggregate; it does not tell me who you are.
You can block this entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or with any content blocker.
If you subscribe to updates, your email address is stored with the email provider used to send them and is used for nothing except sending those updates. It is never sold, rented or shared. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address from the list.
If you write to me
Messages sent to the contact address are kept only as long as needed to deal with them. They are not added to any mailing list.
What this site does not do
- No accounts, no logins, no passwords.
- No payments, so no payment information.
- No first-party tracking beyond the analytics described above, and no fingerprinting.
- Nothing is sold to data brokers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, or to receive a copy. Write to contact@hplushousing.com and I will respond within the period the applicable law requires. There is no charge.
Children
This site is written for professionals and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
